Somatic Experiencing Therapy
A gentle way to process trauma and learn to feel safe in your body.
You’ve been through a lot. And sometimes, your mind just won’t let you rest.
The tension in your chest, the racing thoughts, the weight you carry— it’s your body’s way of holding onto experiences that were too much to process at the time.
Traumatic experiences and chronic stress do a really good job at disrupting the natural flow of your nervous system, which can leave your body stuck in a state of fight, flight, or freeze.
Somatic Experiencing therapy offers a gentle way to find lasting relief. A map to feeling safe in your body. And it’s an incredibly effective way of helping you process stuck feelings and sensations in the body, without reliving past experiences.
Somatic Experiencing Therapy
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a type of therapy that focuses on connecting with sensations in the body to help heal trauma and reduce chronic stress.
Created by Dr. Peter Levine, SE is based on the idea that trauma isn’t just about what has happened to you—it’s also about how your body holds onto the stress and energy from those experiences. SE works by helping your body release this tension and return to a place where you feel safe and calm.
Your body is built to heal itself. When you face danger, your nervous system kicks in to protect you. But if the danger is too much to handle—like in cases of abuse, accidents, or ongoing stress—your nervous system can get stuck in that state.
Over time, this can cause problems like anxiety, depression, chronic pain, exhaustion, or feeling emotionally shut down.

Testimonial
After working with Melanie, I feel more connected to myself than ever before. I’m happier, more productive, and truly living the life I want.
We uncovered something deep that was holding me back, but instead of dwelling on it, we let it go. Since then, I have more energy, motivation, and don’t get stuck in negative thinking.
